Kufstein Cowl

$5.00

Of all of my cowls, this is the one I reach for most often. It is essentially a long narrow tube with a fold line so that the cowl can be doubled and stand up like a collar. The dense slip stitch pattern makes it quite wind proof and shows off variegated yarns beautifully. Named for the Austrian ski town where a sharp wind can blow down off the mountains, this cowl can also be pulled up and worn as a hood if conditions get really dire. The Malabrigo Finito is pure tactile pleasure to knit with, the pattern is simple and repetitive and the result is very wearable.

YARN
Approximately 400 yards of fingering weight yarn
2 skeins Malabrigo Finito (100% merino wool; 200 yds/50g)
Sample shown in Paloma (Color 029)

GAUGE
19 sts and 46 rnds = 4” in Fluffy Brioche Stitch, relaxed after blocking

NEEDLES
16-inch circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge
Suggested size: US 6 (4.00 mm)
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge

TOOLS
Stitch marker, tapestry needle

FINISHED DIMENSIONS (after blocking)
Circumference: 20”; height: 17 ½“
